We are a qualifying post secondary institution for the purposes of using RESPs to pay for tuition for PSE.

Self Employment Program

The Self Employment Program is E. I. funded and designed for people who are unemployed and eligible for self employment training to participate in the labour market. The program provides:

  • instruction in business plan development
  • one-to-one business counselling
  • coaching, guidance and follow-up before the start up of a personal business

To qualify for the program, you must have an idea for starting a new business or taking over an existing business. You must also demonstrate a personal commitment (cash or capital) toward the business and develop and implement a business plan.

If you are receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits, you will continue to receive benefits, and may also be eligible for additional assistance for training and living expenses to participate in the program if your EI benefits run out. If you are EI eligible or receiving other supports, you may also be eligible for assistance.

The complete program application consists of four (4) forms plus your resume if you are in Saskatchewan. Each should be filled out as completely as possible. Every question on the Comprehensive Personality Profile (CPP) form MUST be answered or we cannot process your application.

Workers Compensation Board

If you are receiving Workers Compensation, you may be eligible for their Self Employment Option.  Please ask your provincial WCB office if you qualify.

Youth Self Employment

If you are between the ages of 18 and 29, you may be eligible for funding as a youth.  Please contact our office for more information as this option is not always available.  Funding comes from Service Canada.

Farm Business Development Initiative

This program helps farmers to develop business plans and enhance business skills in nine business practice areas.  Up to $4,000 is available to qualified applicants to help them engage private sector business services and/or access farm-related education and training programs.

Farm Business Development Initiative for Young Farmers

This program is designed to help young farmers under the age of 40 to adopt progressive farm business management practices and strategies in nine areas.  Successful applicants will be reimbursed up to 90 percent of eligible training and consulting costs to a maximim government contribution of $10,000.

Saskatchewan Agri-Value Initiative (SAVI)

This program is intended to help develop and expand small to medium-sized enterprises or producer/processor organizations involved in value added processing of agricultural product which will enable them to make sound businesss decisions and capture market opportunities.

A maximum of $5,000 for skills training is available.

Immigrant Access Fund Micro Loan

An Immigrant Access Fund Micro Loan can help if you are a newcomer and struggling to pay for the costs of the Canadian accreditation or training you need so you can work in your pre-immigration career.

Loans are available to immigrants who do any type of work.  People who receive IAF loans are both skilled workers and professionals.
